South Korean industrial X-ray equipment manufacturer Raypia has showcased its Vegaray Pro desktop X-ray inspection system for forensic and precision examination at Korea Police World Expo 2026 (KPEX 2026), held from October 21 to 24 at Songdo Convensia in Incheon, South Korea.
Headquartered in Seoul, Raypia develops and supplies its own Vegaray range of compact X-ray inspection systems. The Vegaray Pro is designed for semiconductor inspection and forensic applications, enabling users to examine internal structures and identify foreign objects without damaging the inspected item.
Compact X-Ray Imaging for Forensic Examination
The Vegaray Pro uses non-destructive X-ray imaging to reveal internal features that may not be visible through conventional visual examination. According to Raypia, the system measures 320 × 370 × 500 mm, allowing it to fit on a desktop, and supports imaging without a warm-up period.
These features are intended to support inspection environments where compact equipment and rapid image acquisition are important. The system can help forensic teams examine sealed items, electronic devices and other evidence while preserving the original condition of the material being inspected.
Raypia reports that its Vegaray equipment is already used by the Korea National Police Agency's Digital Forensic Team and forensic science divisions at regional police agencies.
Applications in Industrial Inspection and NDT
Beyond forensic examination, Raypia's broader Vegaray product line is used for injection-moulding defect detection, foreign-object inspection and non-destructive testing (NDT). X-ray inspection allows internal features of components to be examined without cutting, dismantling or otherwise damaging them.
The company's equipment also serves industrial customers, including Samsung and LG, as well as public-sector organisations such as defence agencies, the National Institute of Fisheries Science, the Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute, the Korea Testing Laboratory and the Korea Institute of Industrial Technology.
Although the Vegaray Pro is positioned specifically for semiconductor inspection and precision forensic examination, the wider product range addresses industrial applications requiring internal inspection and defect detection.
International Expansion and Government Applications
Raypia has exported its equipment since 2022, with shipments reaching markets including the United States, China, Vietnam and Indonesia. The company also reports supplying equipment to the Greek police through a European Union aid programme and to Nepal's police through a Korea International Cooperation Agency official development assistance project.
At KPEX 2026, Raypia aimed to introduce its products to representatives from police, coast guard, defence and fire services, while identifying potential overseas distributors and agents with experience in government procurement and forensic equipment.
The company is also seeking to expand its business-to-government activities in South Korea beyond police agencies to include the coast guard, military and research institutions. Its international growth plans include developing partnerships in Japan, Taiwan and Southeast Asia.
The company's participation in KPEX 2026 reflects its efforts to expand the use of compact X-ray inspection technology across forensic investigation, industrial inspection and other applications requiring non-destructive examination.
