Falcon Technic, part of Alex Group Investment, has completed a specialised non-destructive testing (NDT) inspection on the right-hand nose landing gear door of a Gulfstream G550 business jet following the identification of suspected damage.
In accordance with original equipment manufacturer (OEM) instructions, the company used Ultrasonic Testing (UT) and BondMaster Pitch-Catch techniques to examine the structure without damaging the component. The inspection was completed in approximately seven hours by a Falcon Technic NDT engineer.
Ultrasonic Testing and BondMaster Inspection
The inspection involved two NDT techniques to assess the affected aircraft structure following the suspected damage. Ultrasonic Testing uses high-frequency sound waves to examine materials for potential discontinuities, while BondMaster Pitch-Catch testing can help evaluate bonded structures and identify potential bond-related issues.
The methods enabled Falcon Technic to carry out the inspection in line with the applicable OEM instructions while preserving the component for further assessment and maintenance.
Coordinated Support Across Aircraft Maintenance Teams
Following the inspection, the next stage of work required coordination among several specialist teams, including NDT, Structures and Sheet Metal, and the Painting Shop. This approach brought inspection findings and subsequent maintenance requirements together within a coordinated workflow.
Falcon Technic's integrated maintenance capabilities allow different technical teams to collaborate on aircraft requirements, reducing the need for operators to coordinate separate service providers for each stage of the work.
Sultan Rashit Shene, Founder and Chairman of Alex Group Investment, said:
"Customers come to Falcon Technic because they need more than one technical service. They need a team that understands the aircraft, works together and can manage different maintenance requirements in one place. From our base in Dubai, UAE, we continue to build strong technical capabilities to support business aviation operators across the region."
The Gulfstream G550 inspection demonstrates Falcon Technic's approach to aircraft maintenance by identifying the inspection requirement, applying the specified NDT techniques and coordinating the relevant specialists to support the next stages of work.
