The Marri Lakshman Reddy Institute of Technology (MLRIT) has taken a significant leap forward in equipping its students for careers in the aerospace, defence, and manufacturing sectors with the establishment of a cutting-edge non-destructive testing (NDT) and welding laboratory. In collaboration with Synergem, the newly inaugurated lab boasts state-of-the-art facilities and advanced testing methodologies, including ultrasonic testing, radiographic testing, magnetic particle inspection, and liquid penetrant testing. These technologies will provide students with hands-on experience in flaw detection and material integrity assessment, crucial skills for industries where precision and safety are paramount.

The welding lab, part of the same facility, is equipped with welding machines and tools, providing students with a platform to master various welding processes. From shielded metal arc welding to gas metal arc welding and tungsten inert gas welding, students will have the opportunity to hone their skills under expert guidance. The inauguration ceremony was graced by esteemed guests G.A. Srinivasa Murthy, Director of Defence Research & Development Laboratory (DRDL/DRDO), and Manoj Gatty, Director of GEECY Apave Pvt. Ltd. Both emphasised the vital role of hands-on training and research in shaping the future workforce. They underscored the significance of NDT techniques and welding technologies in meeting the demands of diverse industries.

Marri Rajasekhar Reddy, founder secretary of MLRIT and Malkajgiri MLA, expressed his vision behind the establishment of the facility. He emphasised the importance of providing students with practical skills that are directly applicable in core industries, thereby enhancing their employability and contributing to the nation's workforce development. With the inauguration of the NDT and welding laboratories, MLRIT reaffirms its commitment to providing holistic education and fostering industry-relevant skills among its students.
