Aberdeen-based J+S Subsea has announced a strategic collaboration with Perth-based Pulse Technology Hub to extend its subsea controls services and recertified equipment supply into Australia and the wider Asia-Pacific (APAC) region.
Announced on 18 September 2026, the collaboration follows around six months of joint market research focused on the technical support requirements associated with aging subsea assets in Australian waters.
Focus on Aging Subsea Infrastructure
Australia's offshore oil and gas infrastructure includes facilities that have been operating for decades, creating requirements for technical support and replacement equipment as some original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) discontinue older technology lines.
The supplied information cites the Australia's Offshore Resources Decommissioning Roadmap, which indicates that more than half of Australia's offshore facilities have been in operation for more than 20 years, with some exceeding 50 years.

Legacy Locker Supports Recertified Equipment
A key element of the collaboration is J+S Subsea's Legacy Locker programme. The programme retrieves subsea equipment, subjects it to inspection and recertification, and supplies the equipment back to operators as replacement components for existing infrastructure.
The recertification process includes systematic inspection, non-destructive testing (NDT), and pressure or load testing against applicable standards, including DNV 2.7-1 and EN 12079. The supplied information states that this documented testing and compliance process is typically conducted on 12- to 24-month cycles.
The approach addresses equipment that may no longer be supported by its original manufacturer while allowing operators to use recertified components compatible with their existing subsea infrastructure.

Pulse Technology Hub is expected to provide the local presence for J+S Subsea's Australian activities, including regional market intelligence, local connections and in-country operational support.

J+S Subsea Extends International Partnership Model
The Australian collaboration follows J+S Subsea's earlier international expansion using a local-partner model. In April 2026, the company partnered with Westpaq International to introduce its circular-engineering and Legacy Locker offering into Africa.
For the Australian market, the partnership with Pulse Technology Hub provides J+S Subsea with an established local connection as it expands its subsea controls and recertified equipment services across Australia and the wider APAC region.
From an NDT perspective, the collaboration places inspection, non-destructive testing and documented recertification at the centre of the effort to return legacy subsea equipment to service.
