ATI Inc. has expanded its advanced manufacturing and inspection capabilities with the launch of a new facility designed to support the increasing demand for next-generation aerospace engine components. The investment strengthens critical capacity within the company's forging value stream while enhancing its ability to support aerospace customers facing ongoing supply chain challenges.
The fully operational greenfield facility, located in Chihuahua, Mexico, integrates advanced machining, non-destructive testing (NDT), finishing, and quality verification technologies into a single operation. By combining these capabilities under one roof, ATI aims to improve the movement of critical aerospace components from forging through final inspection, supporting both legacy and next-generation engine programs.
The expanded operation is intended to increase production efficiency while maintaining the rigorous quality standards required by the aerospace industry. ATI is working closely with customers to qualify critical components and inspection capabilities as demand for advanced aerospace engine programs continues to grow.
The integration of advanced NDT and quality verification technologies within the facility reinforces the role of inspection throughout the manufacturing process, supporting the evaluation of critical aerospace components before they enter service.
“This investment strengthens a critical part of the aerospace value stream,” said Kimberly A. Fields, Board Chair, President and CEO. “As demand for advanced aerospace engines continues to grow, this expanded capacity enables ATI to deliver high-quality products with increased throughput and the differentiated performance our customers need. ATI is improving supply chain resilience to support industry growth.”
The Chihuahua operation also provides access to a highly skilled aerospace workforce, further strengthening ATI's integrated aerospace manufacturing network. The facility aligns with the company's long-term strategy of expanding differentiated manufacturing and inspection capabilities across high-growth aerospace and defense markets.
With advanced machining, non-destructive testing, finishing, and quality verification consolidated into a single facility, ATI is positioned to enhance production throughput while supporting the inspection and quality requirements of modern aerospace engine manufacturing.
