UTEX Scientific has announced the acquisition of PA-CAT Inc., a phased array corrosion analysis technology company, from Holloway NDT & Engineering Inc., strengthening its portfolio of advanced non-destructive testing (NDT) software and automated inspection solutions.
The acquisition includes ownership of PA-CAT’s patented phased array ultrasonic testing technology, algorithm development capabilities, client licensing operations, and future product enhancement roadmap. The technology, originally developed by Holloway NDT & Engineering, is designed to provide quantitative corrosion assessment using industry-standard phased array ultrasonic equipment combined with advanced modelling algorithms.
PA-CAT has been adopted globally by NDT service providers for the inspection and measurement of contact point corrosion on piping systems and pressure vessels. The cloud-based analysis platform is intended to improve inspection accuracy and streamline corrosion assessment workflows within industrial asset integrity programs.
“PA-CAT's advanced phased array analysis capabilities align perfectly with our mission to deliver intuitive and flexible software to the NDT industry. Integrating PA-CAT into the UTEX portfolio strengthens our ability to simplify ultrasonic inspection workflows,” said Walter Weber, CEO of UTEX Scientific.
According to the companies, existing PA-CAT users will continue to receive technical support and access to future software upgrades through a combined team comprising existing PA-CAT engineers and UTEX Scientific specialists.
“PA-CAT has proven to be an effective inspection approach for a difficult inspection problem. We are proud of what we've accomplished, and we are excited to see it advance even further through UTEX Scientific's expertise in NDT software and instrumentation,” said Paul Holloway, Founder of Holloway NDT & Engineering.
UTEX Scientific stated that the integration process has already begun and that the combined technologies are expected to be showcased at upcoming industry events throughout 2026.
The acquisition reflects continued investment within the NDT sector toward advanced phased array ultrasonic testing solutions, automated analysis capabilities, and software-driven inspection workflows aimed at improving corrosion monitoring and asset integrity management across industrial operations.
