Aircraft Specialties Inc. (ASI), an FAA-approved Part 145 repair station based in Omaha, Nebraska, has expanded its non-destructive testing (NDT) portfolio with the introduction of ultrasonic testing. The enhancement reflects ASI’s strategy to integrate advanced inspection technologies into its existing suite of aviation maintenance solutions.
Ultrasonic testing applies high-frequency sound waves to detect internal flaws, cracks, and material inconsistencies in aircraft components—ensuring compliance with component maintenance manual standards. This non-invasive approach strengthens aircraft reliability while avoiding the risks associated with destructive testing methods.
In addition to its NDT expansion, ASI has introduced new product lines, including PM Research FAA-PMA-approved radome boots, leading-edge tape, and protection kits that reduce erosion damage, extend component life, and cut down on costly repairs. The company is also offering Gripedge tools, engineered with Rounding Prevention Technology to prevent fastener stripping and to remove already damaged fasteners efficiently.
“These additions reflect our dedication to investing in both advanced technologies and high-quality products that directly benefit our customers,” said Gene Portela, vice-president of sales at ASI. “From PM Research and Gripedge tools to ultrasonic testing, ASI continues to strengthen its role as a trusted partner in aviation maintenance.”
By integrating ultrasonic inspection into its repair and overhaul operations, ASI reinforces its position in aviation safety and reliability, supporting both operators and manufacturers with cutting-edge NDT solutions.
