Position Summary:

Bilfinger UK is seeking a QA/QC Engineer to manage and control project quality assurance processes while supporting quality assurance, document control, and quality management system resources across the project. The role is responsible for establishing, communicating, and maintaining effective quality control systems to ensure products and services are delivered right the first time, meeting customer expectations for quality, reliability, and performance. The QA/QC Engineer will also support project quality resources, coordinate audits, monitor quality performance, and promote continuous improvement throughout project execution.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide quality-related advice and guidance to the project team.
  • Ensure full utilization of internal reporting systems to capture audit findings, non-conformities, observations, and improvement opportunities.
  • Produce project internal audits, publish the project audit programme, and prepare audit reports.
  • Prepare and review Quality Plans, Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), and supporting QA documentation in collaboration with responsible discipline engineers and subject matter experts.
  • Liaise with Project Quality Control Inspectors to ensure Hold Points and Witness Points are completed in compliance with project requirements.
  • Validate the implementation and effectiveness of corrective actions resulting from non-conformities and internal or external audits.
  • Promote a "Right First Time" approach to quality and safety.
  • Monitor and review quality performance against agreed key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Oversee quality operations to ensure compliance with project documentation and specifications.
  • Ensure subcontractors and suppliers comply with company and project quality requirements.
  • Coordinate with project stakeholders regarding quality documentation and project quality requirements.
  • Liaise with client QA departments to maintain transparency and open communication.
  • Promote and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications:

Education & Experience:

  • Good engineering and QA/QC background.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with Quality Management Systems in regulated industries such as construction, petrochemical, aerospace, or similar sectors.
  • Experience developing project QA documentation, including Quality Plans and Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), and reviewing supplier QA documentation.
  • Previous experience working in highly regulated industries such as petrochemical, oil & gas, aviation, or construction.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Knowledge of installation and acceptance of:
  • Process Pipework (ASME B31.3) (Desirable)
  • Steelwork Erection (BS EN 1090 Execution Class 2) (Desirable)
  • Mechanical Equipment & Plant (Desirable)
  • Electrical, Control & Instrumentation (EC&I) (Desirable)
  • Insulation systems (Desirable)
  • Strong understanding of problem resolution tools and techniques.
  • Ability to conduct internal audits of management systems and communicate audit findings effectively.
  • Knowledge of KPI development and quality performance monitoring.
  • Ability to interpret ISO Management System Standards, technical drawings, and specifications (Desirable).
  • Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong communication and report-writing skills.
  • Knowledge of BS EN 10204 Material Test Certification requirements.
  • Knowledge of Non-Destructive Examination (NDE) methods and reporting techniques.
  • Knowledge of Pressure Equipment Directive requirements.

Certifications:

  • Recognized quality qualification or certification (Essential).
  • Current IRCA Internal Auditor qualification (Desirable).
  • CSWIP 3.1 Welding Inspector certification (Desirable).

Requirements:

  • Good engineering and QA/QC background.
  • Experience with Quality Management Systems in regulated industries.
  • Experience preparing Quality Plans, Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), and reviewing supplier QA documentation.
  • Ability to perform internal audits and manage corrective actions.
  • Knowledge of KPI monitoring and quality performance measurement.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Strong communication and report-writing skills.
  • Recognized quality qualification or certification.
