Position Summary:-

Applus+ is seeking a Level II NDT Technician to oversee and complete non-destructive testing inspections in compliance with applicable industry codes, standards, procedures, and company requirements. The technician will maintain a high level of expertise within the applicable NDT methods and provide on-the-job training, direction, and mentorship to Level I and Trainee Technicians.

The position involves field inspection activities, equipment setup and calibration, technical reporting, radiation safety, and client interaction. The role requires flexibility to work overtime and on-call assignments, as well as occasional to frequent travel within Canada.

Responsibilities:-

  • Perform and complete NDT field inspections in compliance with client, industry, and company standards and policies.
  • Prepare and complete all required inspection paperwork in accordance with applicable requirements.
  • Set up, calibrate, and maintain NDT equipment in functional condition in alignment with client and company procedures.
  • Apply testing criteria in accordance with applicable specifications for conventional and advanced NDT methods.
  • Interpret and evaluate inspection findings using applicable codes, standards, and procedures.
  • Provide direction, guidance, and mentorship to Level I and Trainee Technicians.
  • Provide applicable orientation and training to Level I and Trainee Technicians.
  • Establish work-area boundaries and maintain surveillance to prevent unauthorized personnel from entering restricted areas, as required.
  • Promote and model the company's focus on safety when interacting with employees and clients.
  • Maintain a strong commitment to quality inspection and reporting.
  • Represent Applus+ with outside groups, regulatory bodies, associations, and clients.
  • Read and apply technical documents and procedures in the field.
  • Prepare, review, and complete technical inspection reports.
  • Adhere to organizational policies and procedures, including the Applus+ Code of Ethics and Confidentiality Agreements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications:-

Education & Experience:

  • High School Diploma or Canadian General Equivalency Diploma (GED).
  • 3–5 years of experience in NDT inspection.
  • Canadian General Standards Board (CGSB) Level II Ultrasonic certification(s).
  • Certified Exposure Device Operator (CEDO) certification(s).
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license.

Technical Skills:

  • Strong technical knowledge and understanding of NDT techniques, services, and procedures.
  • Fundamental understanding of industry codes, regulations, and practices.
  • Ability to set up, calibrate, test, interpret, and evaluate findings using required NDT equipment.
  • Thorough knowledge of radiation safety and operational field requirements related to radiation safety.
  • Ability to read and apply technical documents and procedures.
  • Strong report writing and review skills.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and other software applications.

Requirements:-

  • Must hold CGSB Level II Ultrasonic certification(s).
  • Must hold CEDO certification(s).
  • Must possess a valid Class 5 driver's license.
  • Must be available for on-call and overtime requirements.
  • Must be flexible with work schedules and able to respond to requests without advance warning or notification.
  • Must be able to work both indoors and outdoors in heat, cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions, including temperature extremes and inclement weather.
  • Must be able to use required personal protective equipment when working in environments involving hazardous materials.
  • Must be able to work on slippery or uneven surfaces and, occasionally, in noisy or loud project environments.
  • Must be available for overtime during weekdays and weekends based on work volume.
  • Must be willing and able to travel occasionally to frequently within Canada.
  • Must be able to work under varying conditions at different project locations.
