Position Summary:
The NDT Technician is responsible for performing industrial non-destructive testing (NDT) inspections on onshore and offshore piping, pipelines, pressure vessels, mechanical and structural components, and other assets. The role involves conducting inspections using multiple NDT methods, documenting inspection results accurately, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and maintaining a strong commitment to safety. The position requires frequent travel to client sites, manufacturing facilities, and offshore locations, with occasional international assignments. As an on-call role, the technician must be prepared to travel on short notice and work in remote and challenging environments.
Responsibilities:
- Perform inspections using various NDT methods.
- Prepare materials, tools, and equipment required for inspection activities.
- Conduct radiographic testing on components and materials.
- Perform inspections using additional NDT methods as required.
- Interpret, evaluate, and document inspection results through formal reports.
- Set up and calibrate inspection equipment.
- Operate radiography equipment in accordance with applicable regulations and procedures.
- Record inspection findings using camera, video, and written documentation.
- Prepare and maintain accurate inspection reports in compliance with project and industry standards.
- Generate inspection reports using various computer software applications.
- Support general inspection and maintenance activities as assigned.
- Assist in training and supervising Level I technicians and other NDT trainees.
- Adhere to offshore safety protocols, including proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and participation in safety drills.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members to ensure efficient project execution.
- Participate in ongoing training, certification renewals, and professional development.
- Follow all company policies and procedures, with particular emphasis on health and safety.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required to support organizational objectives.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of two (2) years of documented NDT Level II work experience.
- Level II certification in Radiographic Testing (RT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), Visual Testing (VT), Ultrasonic Thickness Testing (UTT), and Dye Penetrant Testing (PT), with signed OJT records, proof of classroom training, and Level II certifications.
- Certification in Digital/Computed Radiography.
- State Radiographer Card.
- Ability to meet company certification requirements.
- Valid driver's license.
- Ability to obtain or possess a TWIC card, valid passport, SafeGulf certification, and HUET Water Survival certification.
- Ability to work both offshore and onshore, including extended assignments in remote locations.
- Ability to travel frequently and work flexible schedules, including weekends and holidays.
- Ability to successfully complete a Respiratory Fit Test for work in H₂S environments and confined spaces.
Preferred qualifications include:
- Additional related NDT experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Offshore and confined space experience.
- Rope Access certification (preferably IRATA).
- ASNT Level II certifications in VT, UT Thickness, MT, RT, and PT.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Basic understanding of NDT methods and principles.
- Strong attention to detail, safety awareness, and teamwork skills.
- Experience with NAVSEA.
