Position Summary:-
TEAM, Inc. is seeking qualified and safety-focused Rope Access Inspectors to support field operations involving non-destructive examination (NDE), API inspections, or advanced inspection techniques in elevated, confined, or otherwise difficult-to-access areas.
The Rope Access Inspector performs inspections using rope access techniques and supports inspection activities at height or in restricted locations. The role works closely with site leads, engineers, planners, mechanical integrity teams, and client representatives to deliver code-compliant inspection results while maintaining TEAM’s safety-focused standards.
The position is suited to professionals who are dual-certified in rope access through SPRAT or IRATA and inspection methods and who can work effectively in dynamic field environments.
Responsibilities:-
- Perform inspections at height using rope access techniques in accordance with SPRAT or IRATA certification standards.
- Conduct NDT and/or API inspections on pressure vessels, piping, tanks, or structural components based on certifications held.
- Assist with the installation of access systems, job rig-ups, and hazard assessments at client sites.
- Accurately document inspection findings using digital tools, inspection forms, and standardized reporting formats.
- Interface with engineers, planners, and client representatives to clarify inspection scope and communicate results.
- Ensure compliance with applicable procedures, codes, OSHA requirements, site-specific requirements, and safety protocols.
- Participate in toolbox talks, pre-job planning, and safety audits as required.
- Maintain rope access and inspection equipment in safe, working condition.
- Track required certifications.
- Assist with equipment transfers, mobilizations, and worksite setup and teardown for access operations.
- Support inspections in refining, petrochemical, and energy environments.
- Perform additional duties consistent with the position as assigned.
Qualifications:-
Required Qualifications:
- SPRAT or IRATA Certification, Level I or II depending on role scope.
- 1–3 years of experience performing inspections in refining, petrochemical, or energy environments.
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems, inspection terminology, and field safety practices.
- Physical capability to perform rope access duties, including climbing, rigging, and extended work at height.
- Ability to travel regionally or nationally for projects.
- Ability to pass pre-employment background checks, TWIC, DISA, and site-specific onboarding.
- Strong work ethic with a safety-first mindset.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Multiple NDT Level II certifications or ASNT/PCN/CGSB equivalencies.
- API 510, API 570, API 653, CWI, AMPP, or other advanced certifications.
- Radiation Safety Training, IRRSP, or State Industrial Radiographer Card, if applicable to RT.
- Familiarity with digital reporting systems or NDT data software.
- Previous experience working in refineries, petrochemical plants, pipeline projects, or fabrication shops.
- Current TWIC, OSHA 10/30, or other industry-standard safety certifications.
- Previous experience supporting mechanical integrity or turnaround inspection programs.
- Rigging certification, confined space training, or fall protection awareness credentials.
- Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
- Comfort working in fast-paced team environments.
Requirements:-
- Physical and Mental Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds.
- Sufficient personal mobility to maneuver in standard refinery or plant environments, including access to elevated platforms through ladders and stairwells except when performing non-field duties.
- Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing, or other communication capabilities, to communicate effectively.
- Sufficient vision or other powers of observation to perform inspection activities.
- Sufficient manual dexterity to perform routine duties.
- Sufficient personal mobility and physical reflexes to perform duties and travel to off-site locations when necessary.
- Ability to maintain focus and multitask with effective communication skills.
Work Conditions:-
- The position is based out of a TEAM field office or client site location.
- Field duties involve indoor and outdoor work in a plant atmosphere.
- The role involves interaction with crew employees, supervisors, and client personnel.
- Work may take place around production machinery with extreme noise levels.
- Required safety equipment must be worn as directed by the safety department.
- The position may involve work at more than one job site in a day and exposure to changing climates.
- Periodic out-of-town travel may be required.
- The role requires willingness and ability to work extended shifts, weekends, and alternative work schedules as required.
- The position requires the ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and in various environmental conditions.
