Position Summary:
Acuren is seeking an NDT Specialist (AUT/PAUT/Guided Wave) to join its team in St. Louis Park, Minnesota. The role is responsible for performing advanced non-destructive testing (NDT) inspections, conducting integrity assessments, reviewing inspection data, and preparing technical reports to evaluate the structural integrity of industrial assets. The NDT Specialist will ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and safety requirements while supporting customers through technical expertise, specialized inspections, and risk management activities.
Responsibilities:
- Perform non-destructive testing inspections using applicable NDT methods to ensure quality and detect discontinuities in materials and components.
- Establish appropriate inspection techniques while ensuring strict compliance with safety regulations.
- Apply testing criteria in accordance with applicable specifications and standards and evaluate inspection results.
- Identify, track, manage, and mitigate risks associated with client projects and escalate issues when necessary to minimize impacts on quality, budget, and project timelines.
- Review asset documentation, operational records, inspection data, monitoring information, and NDE audit activities.
- Conduct integrity assessments, including physical site walkdowns when required.
- Prepare detailed project reports outlining work performed, conclusions, and recommendations.
- Perform specialized inspections using advanced NDT methods.
- Develop inspection techniques for customer certifying agent approval.
- Instruct and supervise personnel when required.
- Demonstrate extensive knowledge of ASME and API requirements and procedures related to continued equipment serviceability.
- Interface with customers regarding project scheduling and technical problem-solving.
- Utilize applicable software and computer systems to support inspection and reporting activities.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Some college education preferred.
Experience:
- Minimum of five years of technical experience in NDT procedures and methods, including UT, UTPA, PAUT, CR, DR, or related techniques.
Certifications:
- Current NDT certifications in applicable methods, including UT, UTPA, PAUT, CR, DR, or related methods.
Skills & Competencies:
- Demonstrated ability to perform assigned NDT tasks and accurately interpret inspection results.
- Knowledge of NDT equipment and inspection procedures.
- Extensive knowledge of ASME and API requirements and procedures for equipment evaluation.
- Knowledge of industry health and safety policies and procedures.
- Strong customer communication and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in using applicable software and computer-related equipment.
- Supervisory experience is considered an advantage.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Current NDT certifications in applicable inspection methods.
- Minimum of five years of technical NDT experience.
- Ability to travel as required.
- Ability to work in outdoor environments involving continuous physical effort and exposure to varying environmental conditions.
- Ability to frequently lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to perform physical activities including reaching, kneeling, crawling, bending, crouching, standing, walking, climbing, driving, and other mobility-related tasks.
