Position Summary:

The role is responsible for performing independent inspections in accordance with ASME code requirements, monitoring colleagues’ work, and providing technical solutions to ASME and National Board (NB) clients. Reporting to project coordinators and project managers, the position supports the execution of assigned inspection activities while ensuring compliance with applicable codes, standards, and company procedures.

The individual will serve as a technical mentor, support competency development, lead teams of Authorized Inspectors (AIs), review and approve procedures and documentation, and provide expertise related to boilers, pressure vessels, pressure piping, and associated inspection activities. The role requires frequent travel, field inspections, and the ability to work in varying environmental conditions.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform independent inspections in accordance with ASME code requirements.
  • Monitor colleagues’ work and provide technical solutions to ASME and National Board clients.
  • Train, mentor, and authorize competencies based on experience and knowledge.
  • Provide guidance and additional training to engineers and colleagues as required.
  • Prepare, review, approve, edit, and maintain job-related procedures, departmental procedures, checklists, and ASME and National Board documentation.
  • Lead teams of Authorized Inspectors and act as a mentor for surveyors.
  • Participate in project meetings and discuss fabrication and construction matters with clients, contractors, vendors, and suppliers.
  • Review procedures, reports, method statements, and other technical documentation related to assigned responsibilities.
  • Ensure inspection reports are submitted within agreed timelines and comply with company reporting guidelines.
  • Provide solutions to quality-related issues within the scope of responsibility.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with clients and colleagues.
  • Present technical information during knowledge-sharing sessions, departmental meetings, and technical briefings.
  • Network with professionals and industry forums to build and share competence.
  • Handle complex technical and commercial issues.
  • Lead learning activities as a trainer, tutor, or course instructor.
  • Perform visual inspections of ASME and National Board boilers and pressure vessels.
  • Review Non-Destructive Examination (NDE) reports and engineering calculations.
  • Travel to project sites and perform inspections in various weather conditions.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Production Engineering.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience with high-pressure boilers and pressure equipment.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Knowledge of ASME, API, AWS, EN Standards, and NBIC Code.
  • Experience with boilers, pressure vessels, pressure piping, and PED/CE marking projects.
  • Risk survey experience.
  • National Board of Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspectors Commission.
  • Inspector with AI, IS Commission, and B and R endorsement.
  • Knowledge of DNV offshore standards and experience in offshore container certification.
  • Experience participating in ASME and National Board accreditation audits at manufacturer locations.
  • Additional Professional Qualifications (Preferred)
  • CSWIP or AWS welding qualifications.
  • NDT qualifications.
  • ISO Lead Auditor qualifications.
  • BGAS painting qualifications.

  • Ability to perform inspections independently and provide technical support to clients.
  • Ability to train, mentor, and develop technical competencies.
  • Capability to lead teams and manage technical responsibilities.
  • Strong report writing, documentation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to review NDE reports and technical calculations.
  • Willingness to travel extensively.
  • Physical fitness to perform inspections in extreme weather conditions.
  • Ability to work outdoors in hot and cold environments.
  • Successful completion of background checks as part of the employment process.
