Position Summary:

Applus+ is seeking an Aviation Non-Destructive Test Technician Level 2 to perform day-to-day non-destructive testing (NDT) inspections on aircraft and aircraft components in accordance with Applus UK approvals. The role involves working to customer, supplier, and OEM inspection data to deliver timely, high-quality inspections both in-house and at domestic and international customer sites. The Aviation NDT Technician Level 2 is responsible for maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, technical compliance, and customer service while supporting aviation operations and promoting the company's core values.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct NDT inspections of customer aircraft and components in accordance with agreed priorities, controlling documents, and customer work instructions.
  • Perform essential contract reviews before progressing work orders.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable Health & Safety, Quality, and Technical procedures while maintaining accountability for assigned work.
  • Perform and record calibration, control, and maintenance checks for all inspection instruments under their responsibility.
  • Certify completed work in accordance with customer purchase order requirements.
  • Complete accurate job packs, timesheets, invoicing information, and technical records for submission to the Aviation Team Leader or Aviation Operations Manager.
  • Deliver high-quality inspection services that provide customers with confidence in the safety and integrity of their aircraft and components.
  • Provide customers with all required inspection documentation, including Form 1 release documentation for EASA, CAA, or FAA, and Applus NDT test reports.
  • Support customer projects at domestic and international locations and be available for reasonable overseas travel.
  • Participate in rotating night shifts during busy periods and weekend on-call schedules when required.
  • Report issues that may significantly impact department performance to the Aviation Team Leader or Operations Manager.
  • Interrupt or discontinue work whenever aviation safety or the safety of others may be compromised.
  • Perform all duties in compliance with company procedures, policies, and regulatory requirements, including Safety and Information Security.
  • Report information security concerns, incidents, vulnerabilities, and threats using the company occurrence reporting system.
  • Report safety hazards, errors, and fatigue concerns through the company occurrence reporting system.
  • Remain vigilant regarding information security risks during daily activities.
  • Participate in initial and recurrent training, incident reviews, meetings, briefings, events, and promotional programs.
  • Participate in the company's Emergency Response Plans.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment while promoting Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality (HSEQ) standards.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with clients.
  • Support continuous improvement and cost-saving initiatives within the facility.
  • Assume ownership of assigned equipment, legal compliance, safety responsibilities, and other operational requirements.

Qualifications:

Education & Experience:

  • Minimum of 12 months of practical experience in NDT maintenance as a Level 2 technician.
  • A minimum of two years of aeronautical experience within an Aviation Maintenance Part 145 environment is desirable.
  • Ability to provide evidence of employment during the previous five years is desirable.

Certifications:

  • Hold at least one Level 2 certification in Eddy Current Testing (ET), Ultrasonic Testing (UT), or Radiography (RT) in accordance with EN4179/NAS410 or another standard accepted by the applicable National Aviation Authority.
  • Additional Level 2 certifications in Eddy Current, Ultrasonic, or Radiography are desirable.
  • Certifications in Penetrant Testing (PT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), or Thermography in accordance with EN4179/NAS410 or equivalent standards are desirable.
  • Current or previously held NDT certifications are considered advantageous.
  • IOSHH or other recognized Health and Safety training is desirable.
  • Current regulatory training in Human Factors, Safety Management Systems, Fuel Tank Safety, and Aviation Legislation is desirable.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Understanding of Foreign Object Damage (FOD), Product Safety, Counterfeit, Fraudulent and Suspect Items (CFSI), and Fraudulent Activity principles.
  • Good verbal and written English communication skills.
  • Strong integrity and the ability to remain responsible under pressure.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy during testing and process control activities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word.
  • Knowledge of NADCAP, ISO 9001, and AS9100 standards is desirable.
  • Radiation safety experience is desirable.
  • Understanding of cybersecurity and information security principles is desirable.
  • Demonstrated trustworthiness, accountability, and ownership of professional development.
  • Strong time management, planning, critical thinking, adaptability, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team.
  • Excellent communication skills for interacting with customers, stakeholders, and trainees.

Requirements:

  • Must support customer site work both domestically and internationally.
  • Must be available for reasonable overseas travel.
  • Must be willing to work rotating night shifts during busy periods.
  • Must be available for weekend on-call duties on a rotational basis.
  • Must promote and maintain high standards of Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality (HSEQ).
  • Must ensure appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) is available and used whenever required.
  • Must maintain secure handling of records and data confidentiality.
  • Must report all safety, security, vulnerability, threat, or breach incidents in accordance with company procedures.
