Position Summary:
The AUT Operator is responsible for setting up, calibrating, and operating Automated Ultrasonic Testing (AUT) equipment for the inspection of welds, pipelines, and structural components in accordance with applicable codes, standards, and client specifications. The role involves conducting inspections, monitoring data acquisition, interpreting results, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality requirements. This is a contract-based, on-site position located in Jamnagar.
Responsibilities:
- Set up, calibrate, and operate Automated Ultrasonic Testing (AUT) equipment.
- Perform inspections of welds, pipelines, and structural components in accordance with applicable codes and client specifications.
- Prepare inspection surfaces prior to testing activities.
- Conduct AUT scans and monitor data acquisition processes.
- Interpret AUT data and identify relevant indications.
- Accurately record inspection results and findings.
- Prepare inspection reports and maintain inspection documentation.
- Communicate inspection findings to supervisors, engineers, and client representatives.
- Ensure compliance with applicable NDT standards, codes, and procedures.
- Follow site-specific safety procedures and HSE requirements.
- Utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) during inspection activities.
- Maintain AUT equipment in good working condition.
- Support quality assurance and quality control activities at the job site.
- Work collaboratively with technicians, inspectors, and client teams.
Qualifications:
- Proficiency in operating Automated Ultrasonic Testing (AUT) systems.
- Familiarity with conventional Ultrasonic Testing (UT) techniques.
- Strong understanding of NDT standards, codes, and procedures related to oil and gas, pipeline, and heavy engineering projects.
- Ability to interpret AUT data, analyze indications, and document results accurately.
- Certificate or training in NDT methods, such as UT Level II or equivalent.
- AUT-specific certifications are considered an advantage.
- Basic computer skills for AUT software operation, report preparation, and data management.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
Requirements:
- Commitment to safety practices and compliance with site-specific HSE requirements.
- Ability to use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
- Willingness to work shifts, extended hours, and in varying field conditions based on project requirements.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
- Prior experience in onshore, offshore, or cross-country pipeline AUT inspections is highly desirable.
