ASME Authorized Inspector

Position Summary:

TÜV SÜD South Asia is seeking an ASME Authorized Inspector (AI) to perform inspections of boilers, pressure vessels, piping, and welding in accordance with the ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel (BPV) Code, National Board requirements, and applicable jurisdictional regulations. The role involves conducting shop and field inspections, witnessing pressure and non-destructive examinations, verifying code compliance, and supporting certification activities to ensure the safe fabrication and assembly of pressure equipment.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct shop and field inspections during the fabrication and assembly of boilers, pressure vessels, piping, and welding projects.
• Witness hydrostatic, pneumatic, and non-destructive examinations (NDE).
• Maintain the ASME Inspector Diary and verify material traceability.
• Review Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), Procedure Qualification Records (PQRs), and welder/operator qualifications.
• Document non-conformities and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
• Confirm ASME Code compliance prior to U-stamp and nameplate application.
• Attend joint reviews with Certificate Holders and AI Supervisors.

Qualifications:

Education & Certification:

• ASME Authorized Inspector (AI) Commission or National Board eligibility.

Experience:

• 3–5 years of experience in pressure equipment inspection.
• 4+ years of work experience with equipment testing.
• 4+ years of work experience with ASME standards.
• Technical Knowledge
• Strong knowledge of ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code Sections I, VIII, and IX.
• Familiarity with Non-Destructive Examination (NDE) methods, including Radiographic Testing (RT), Ultrasonic Testing (UT), Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT), and Magnetic Particle Testing (MT).

Requirements:

• ASME AI Commission or National Board eligibility.
• Willingness to travel to shop and field sites.
• Ability to perform inspections in accordance with ASME BPV Code, National Board requirements, and applicable jurisdictional regulations.
