Position Summary:
Oceaneering is seeking an Apprentice – Engineering Assistant to join its Asset Engineering department. The role supports the integrity and reliability of assets by assisting with engineering documentation, inspection planning, and asset integrity activities. The apprentice will gain hands-on experience in engineering data management, inspection drawing development, Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) fundamentals, and Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) activities while working closely with experienced professionals.
Responsibilities:
- Learn the Oil & Gas value chain and key aspects of integrity and maintenance management for various Oil & Gas assets.
- Learn the importance of engineering data and support data collection for assessment studies.
- Assist in drafting, reviewing, and interpreting engineering drawings, including Process Flow Diagrams (PFD), Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID), Piping Isometric Drawings (ISO), and General Arrangement Drawings (GAD).
- Learn and support the development of 2D and 3D inspection isometric drawings using AutoCAD.
- Learn and assist with model review and navigation using Navisworks, including basic model walkthroughs, clash detection, and visibility checks.
- Learn the fundamentals of Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) techniques commonly used in the Oil & Gas industry.
- Support the marking of Condition Monitoring Locations (CML) on piping isometric and General Arrangement drawings.
- Assist in preparing drawing packages for integrity reviews, Risk-Based Inspection (RBI) studies, and inspection planning.
- Assist with the extraction, review, and organization of engineering documents from the Engineering Document Management System (EDMS).
- Learn and support activities related to the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or Metallurgy Engineering.
- 0–1 year of experience in a relevant field, preferably with exposure to corrosion or asset integrity management.
Skills & Competencies:
- Basic understanding of mechanical engineering principles.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office or similar software for report preparation.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and industry practices.
