Position Summary:

Acuren is seeking an NDT Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support laboratory operations in Bensenville, Illinois. The role is responsible for performing advanced non-destructive testing (NDT) inspections, ensuring compliance with applicable standards, interpreting inspection results, and supporting quality assurance activities. The NDT SME will utilize technical expertise to perform specialized inspections, maintain testing accuracy, and contribute to safe and efficient laboratory operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Set up and calibrate non-destructive testing equipment.
  • Conduct inspections to ensure quality or detect discontinuities using applicable NDT methods.
  • Establish appropriate examination techniques while ensuring strict adherence to safety regulations.
  • Apply testing criteria in accordance with applicable specifications and standards and evaluate inspection results.
  • Interpret radiographs, cathode ray tube (CRT) or digital readouts, conductivity meters, and visual indicators.
  • Organize and prepare inspection reports and test results.
  • Perform specialized inspections as required.
  • Instruct and supervise personnel when assigned.
  • Perform additional job-related duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Some college education preferred.

Experience:

  • Technical background in NDT methods and procedures.
  • Experience with Computed Radiography (CR) and Digital Radiography (DR) is required.
  • Experience with NADCAP audits and accreditations is required.
  • Aerospace industry experience is required.
  • Experience in report writing.

Certifications:

  • ASNT Level III certification in Radiographic Testing (RT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT), and/or Ultrasonic Testing (UT) is required.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively perform assigned NDT inspections and accurately interpret inspection results.
  • Strong knowledge of NDT equipment and inspection techniques.

Requirements:

  • Must hold ASNT Level III certification in RT, MT, PT, and/or UT.
  • Computed Radiography (CR) and Digital Radiography (DR) experience is required.
  • Must have NADCAP audit and accreditation experience.
  • Must have aerospace industry experience.
