Course Description :

Are you an experienced Level 2 qualified ultrasonic technician looking to enhance your knowledge and gain certification in phased array ultrasonic testing (PAUT)? If you have limited time to attend a full-time classroom course, then this blended learning package is perfect for you.

This course offers a mix of eLearning and in-class practical training, followed by certification to BS EN ISO 9712. The online modules are designed to be studied at your own pace and at your convenience, covering key concepts such as the basic principles of ultrasound testing, the principles underlying phased array ultrasound, beam steering, beam focusing, optimizing data quality, and a review module.

The classroom aspect of the course is divided into three parts: practical application of phased array for weld inspection, inspection design, and instrument configuration, calibration, and data acquisition; multi-group inspection, data analysis, and reporting; and a certification examination. The course uses typical equipment like Olympus Omniscan, TD Focus Scan, Sonatest Harfang, Zetec Topaz, M2M Gekko equipment, and specific equipment can be requested.

By the end of the course, you will be able to explain the theoretical background of phased array applications, select the correct probe/wedge to examine welded butt joints, calibrate and set up the phased array ultrasonic equipment, locate and evaluate flaws in the weld body, HAZ, and parent metal lamination, analyze scan data for location and size of defects in typically welded butt joints, accurately report weld condition, differentiate defects from geometric features, compile a written instruction, and meet the CSWIP syllabus requirements.

If you choose to enroll in a course that includes blended learning, you will need access to the online material no less than 30 days before the in-class element of the course. This requirement is mandatory and must be embraced in your study plan.
