If you're involved in weld inspection or inspection of castings and forgings, this course is for you. It's suitable for all NDT personnel, inspectors, and technicians, whether you're new to the field or looking to advance to higher levels of certification. You'll learn the principles of magnetism, magnetic fields, induction, permeability and reluctance, and magnetization. You'll discover how to carry out magnetic particle inspection, interpret indications, and write clear and concise inspection instructions and test reports. The course covers practical exercises, methods of assessing sensitivity, and instruction writing.
The training is in accordance with the requirements of BS EN ISO 9712, and the course ends with a certification examination. Certification is available for Levels 1, 2, and 3, and you can find information on Level 3 courses on our website.
By the end of the course, you'll be able to:
- Explain the basic principles of magnetic particle inspection methods
- Carry out magnetic particle inspection
- Write clear and concise inspection instructions and test reports
- Meet syllabus requirements for CSWIP, PCN Level 2
Please note that the listed price is for direct access to Level 2 and includes examination and levy fees. If you're interested in the Level 1 option, please contact Customer Services.
All candidates attending a PCN examination (initial, retest, or renewal) must provide photo ID (e.g driving license number, passport number, PCN ID card) on the day of the examination. Failure to do so will result in the candidate being turned away.
There are no mandatory course entry requirements. The minimum required duration of training, which includes both theoretical and practical elements, is:
- Level 1 - 16 hours
- Level 2 - 24 hours (Direct Level 2 - 40 hours)
- The training hours requirement is fulfilled when candidates attend one of TWI's training courses.
The minimum duration for experience prior to or following success in the qualification examination is:
- Level 1 - 1 month
- Level 2 - 3 months (Direct Level 2 - 4 months)
- Certification will not be issued until successful completion of the examination and the required experience is achieved.
Please note that PCN courses and exams are not available through TWI India and TWI South East Asia as they have withdrawn ATO of BINDT.
