Oceanscan Group has officially opened its new facility in Dyce, Aberdeen, marking a significant step in the company’s continued expansion across Scotland, the United Kingdom, and Europe.
The new 1,200-square-metre site more than doubles the company’s operational footprint compared with its previous base in Bridge of Don, which had served as Oceanscan’s headquarters for more than 35 years. The facility also consolidates complementary services from across the wider Venterra Group network, including operations from INSPIRE Environmental and HPR, enhancing collaboration and operational efficiency.
The facility was officially opened on 21 May by Oceanscan Group CEO Derek Donaldson and welcomed more than 200 clients, suppliers, and industry partners for a tour of the new premises and a showcase of the company’s expanded capabilities.
The move follows a period of strong business growth for Oceanscan across Europe, during which the company’s subsea division doubled in size. The expansion is expected to support further growth plans throughout 2026.
A key feature of the newly refurbished engineering facility is its advanced non-destructive testing (NDT) capability alongside state-of-the-art subsea calibration services. These enhanced technical resources are designed to strengthen support for offshore inspection and survey campaigns through faster mobilization, improved local service delivery, and increased operational efficiency across the UK and European markets.
The larger facility has been designed to accommodate future growth as demand for subsea and inspection services continues to increase. Oceanscan’s Aberdeen workforce has expanded to 57 employees, with additional capacity to support approximately 30 new roles across engineering, operations, sales, and finance functions.
In addition to expanding technical capabilities, the facility has been developed with a focus on employee wellbeing and collaboration. Modern workspaces and enhanced amenities, including an on-site gym, form part of the company’s continued investment in its workforce and workplace environment.
Supported by its international operations in Houston and Singapore, the new Aberdeen facility further strengthens Oceanscan’s ability to provide local support for offshore projects while serving clients across global energy and subsea markets.
The opening of the Dyce facility represents a strategic investment in NDT, subsea calibration, and offshore support services, positioning Oceanscan to meet growing industry demand while expanding its operational capabilities across key international markets.
