Miss Nawarat Khamsri, International Sales and Marketing Manager, and Mr. Sumate Pettong, General Innovation Manager for Dexon Technology PLC, spearheaded a high-profile delegation representing Thai energy and education sectors during their visit to the Northern Lights Carbon Capture and Storage project in Norway. This visit was a collaborative effort between the Thai government and private entities aimed at influencing future climate change policies and funding initiatives.
The Northern Lights project, a pivotal component of the Norwegian Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) initiative known as Longship, is an international collaborative effort involving the Norwegian government, Equinor, Shell, and Total Energies. It encompasses the capture and secure subsea storage of unavoidable carbon emissions generated by heavy industries and transportation, addressing one of the most critical issues in the fight against climate change.
During their tour of the Northern Lights facility, the Thai delegation gained valuable insights into CCS technology and its applications. This knowledge will serve as a foundation for further research and development initiatives in Thailand. Chiang Mai University and Dexon Technology PLC are actively exploring opportunities for collaboration in research related to carbon capture and storage within Thailand.
