The Shipbuilding and ship repair plant “Balkan” today announced that specialists from its quality control department have successfully completed certification in non-destructive testing (NDT), securing qualifications at levels I and II. This achievement is a key step in ensuring the highest standards of safety and quality for the construction of two new dry cargo vessels with a lifting capacity of 6,100 tons.

The specialized training program focused on two fundamental NDT methods crucial for shipbuilding: ultrasonic and magnetic particle testing. These techniques are essential for verifying the integrity of welds by identifying hidden flaws, cracks, and other defects that could compromise the structural reliability of the ships. The successful certification of these employees confirms the company’s strong commitment to adopting and adhering to international standards in shipbuilding.

By investing in the advanced training of its personnel, the Balkan plant guarantees that the construction of the new dry cargo vessels will be carried out with a meticulous focus on quality control. This move underscores the company’s dedication to producing vessels that not only meet but exceed industry benchmarks for safety and performance, ensuring their long-term reliability and contributing to the nation’s maritime development goals.
