Position Summary:
Bilfinger UK is seeking a QA/QC Inspector to support the PUMA construction project at Mitsubishi Chemicals UK in Saltend Chemicals Park, Hull. The role is responsible for ensuring the quality, safety, and integrity of piping systems installed throughout the project. The inspector will perform inspections, assessments, and quality checks to verify compliance with project specifications, industry standards, and regulatory requirements. Based on-site at the PUMA project offices, the position plays a key role in ensuring the successful delivery of a large-scale construction project by maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety.
Responsibilities:
- Inspect and assess piping system installations in accordance with applicable codes and standards, including ASME, ASTM, API, and ANSI.
- Conduct visual inspections to identify defects or damage in piping, welds, fittings, and supports.
- Review and interpret piping isometrics and P&IDs to verify proper installation and alignment.
- Apply in-depth knowledge of welding codes and standards, including ASME, AWS, and API.
- Ensure Non-Destructive Testing (NDT), including Ultrasonic Testing (UT), Radiographic Testing (RT), and Magnetic Particle Testing (MPT), is carried out in accordance with project specifications.
- Perform visual inspections of welding quality, including weld surface condition, alignment, and weld size.
- Verify that welding activities are completed according to approved procedures and applicable welding standards.
- Conduct visual inspections and thickness checks of structural and piping coatings.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations, environmental requirements, and quality control procedures during inspection activities.
- Prepare detailed inspection reports, documenting findings, recommendations, and required corrective actions.
- Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and contractors to resolve quality-related issues identified during inspections.
- Complete inspection records, non-conformance reports, and all required project documentation accurately and on time.
- Perform final acceptance inspections for completed piping systems.
- Stay informed about current industry standards, codes, and best practices.
Qualifications:
- CSWIP Level 3.1 certification (minimum requirement).
- PCN Level 2 Dye Penetrant Inspection (DPI) certification.
- PCN Level 2 Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI) certification.
- Radiographic Interpretation certification (preferred).
- Coating inspection certification such as ICorr Level 1 or NACE Level 1 (preferred).
Requirements:
- Strong knowledge of piping inspection practices and installation requirements.
- Knowledge of applicable industry standards, including ASME, ASTM, API, ANSI, and AWS.
- Ability to interpret piping isometric drawings and P&IDs.
- Experience verifying NDT activities and welding quality.
- Ability to prepare inspection reports and quality documentation.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a project team.
- Site-based availability for the PUMA project offices in Hull.
