NDT Trainee

Position Summary:

MISTRAS Alaska is seeking an NDT Trainee to assist Level II and Level III NDT personnel in performing non-destructive testing activities. The trainee will support inspection operations while gaining practical experience in various NDT methods. The position follows a rotational work schedule of either 21 days on/21 days off or 14 days on/14 days off, with 12-hour shifts on the North Slope of Alaska.

Responsibilities:

• Assist NDT Level II and Level III personnel with non-destructive testing activities.
• Support inspection operations while following established procedures and safety requirements.
• Participate in on-the-job training for various NDT methods as assigned.
• Perform additional tasks as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent.

Certifications & Training:

• Completion of a 40-hour Radiation Safety Course.
• NDT training and on-the-job training (OJT) in Ultrasonic Testing (UT), Radiographic Testing (RT), Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), and Visual Testing (VT) in accordance with ASNT SNT-TC-1A is preferred but not required.
• Current IRRSP or state radiation card is preferred but not required.
• Current IRATA Level I or higher Rope Access certification is preferred, or willingness to obtain certification.

Requirements:

• Valid driver's license.
• Ability to routinely lift up to 75 pounds.
• Ability to work for extended periods in extreme climates, including subzero temperatures.
• Ability to work comfortably in cramped or confined spaces.
• Ability to work a rotational schedule of either 21 days on/21 days off or 14 days on/14 days off.
• Ability to work 12-hour shifts on Alaska's North Slope.
