Position Summary:
Apave is seeking a Welding / NDT Technician (Technicien Soudage / CND) to join its technical team in Cherbourg, Normandy, France. Operating on a permanent contract (CDI), the technician is responsible for validating welding quality documentation, performing surface non-destructive evaluations, ensuring regulatory compliance, and managing client technical relationships.
Responsibilities:
- Review, analyze, and validate welding quality packages including WPS/PQR (DMOS/QMOS), welding books, and material certificates.
- Ensure manufacturing conformity with applicable regulatory standards and industry codes.
- Execute visual inspections (VT) and progress toward other NDT methods (MT/UT/PT) to detect surface/structural defects on new or in-service assemblies.
- Provide technical advisory services, follow-up, and solutions to clients.
- Maintain equipment, document test findings, and issue inspection reports.
Qualifications Requirements:
- Higher education degree (Bac+2/Bac+3) in metallurgy, boilermaking, industrial maintenance, or related fields.
- Valid Driver's License (Permis B) for local travel.
- Strong technical aptitude, precision, rigor, and effective communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- International Welding Technician (IWT) qualification.
- COFREND VT Level 2 certification (company-sponsored training available if not certified).
- Experience in the nuclear sector and/or valid EDF nuclear site accreditations.
