Ultrasonic Testing (UT), Level - II

Course Objective:

This comprehensive course aims to provide participants with classroom training and examination, leading to a Level II qualification in Ultrasonic Testing (UT) that complies with the requirements of ASNT SNT-TC-1A based employer's written practice or the requirements of ISO 9712, as opted by the candidate. A valid Level II certificate holder will be formally eligible to conduct ultrasonic examinations on relevant test jobs, following applicable NDT written procedures, and generate accurate test reports.

• Basic Principles of Ultrasonic Testing, Testing Methods, Advantages, Limitations, and Applications
• Probe Operation and Factors Affecting the Choice of Probes, Couplant
• Instrument Operation, Software Settings, and Standardization
• Straight Beam and Angle Beam Examination, System Calibration, and Sensitivity Setting
• Sensitivity Check, Optimization of Scanning Parameters, and Data Collection
• Signal Interpretation to Identify Relevant Indications and Sizing
• Manufacturing Processes and Associated Discontinuities
• Evaluation Against Acceptance Criteria and Reporting
• Understanding Codes, Standards, Specifications, and Operating Procedures

Course Duration:

• ASNT: Training: 8 days (80 hours - Direct Level II)
• ASNT: Exam: 1 day (8 hours)
• PCN: Training: 12 days (120 hours - Direct Level II)
• PCN: Exam: 1 day (10 hours)

Who Should Attend:

This course is ideal for technicians, inspectors, supervisors, and personnel working in industries such as oil refineries, petrochemical plants, ship construction, and other fields where Ultrasonic Testing (UT) is essential.

Pre-requirements:

• ASNT: Participants must hold a valid vision certificate and have a minimum of 840 hours of experience in UT and a total of 1600 hours in NDT.
• PCN: Participants must hold a valid vision certificate and have a minimum of 12 months of experience in UT.

Certification:

Upon successful completion, participants will receive an ASNT Training certificate and a Level II certificate, both valid for 5 years. For PCN qualification, participants will receive a Training certificate and a Level II certificate issued by BINDT with a 5-year validity.

To facilitate effective learning, we provide course notes, instruments, probes, calibration blocks, and training specimens for hands-on practical exercises.
