Course Description

Lavender International offers an on-site ultrasonic course for testing spot welds, specifically designed for vehicle manufacturing companies. This course is built around the SNT.TC.1A Employer-based Certification Program, and each company receives assistance with a Written Practice detailing the training, examination, and certification process for the ultrasonic testing of spot weld inspection.

The course is divided into two levels: Level 1 (40 hours) and Level 2 (an additional 40 hours). The course outline includes:

Level 1:

  • Theoretical principles of ultrasonic testing
  • Beam geometry
  • Modes of wave propagation
  • Understanding why sound waves are reflected and refracted
  • Understanding of fundamentals that control reliable results

Level 2:

  • Modes of Spot Weld Failure and ultrasonic signatures on 2 plate welds
  • Correct use of your own choice of flaw detector instrument
  • Selection of transducers
  • Practical hands-on calibration and spot weld testing
  • Training and examinations are conducted on-site, with 4 days of training tailored to specific components of your factory and an exam on the 5th day.

By the end of the course, participants will have a comprehensive understanding of ultrasonic testing principles and techniques and will be able to effectively inspect spot welds using ultrasonic equipment.
