Theory and Practical: This immersive 80-hour (10-day) training program offers a balanced curriculum, dedicating 50% of the course to comprehensive theory and the other 50% to hands-on practical application. You will develop a strong foundation in ultrasonic inspection techniques through extensive practice, all under the guidance of seasoned instructors and using state-of-the-art inspection equipment.

Our comprehensive course covers a wide range of topics, including:

  • Introduction to ultrasonics, the nature of sound, and its transmission.
  • Methods for generating and receiving ultrasonic energy.
  • Types of transducers with detailed explanations of their components.
  • Ultrasonic energy's modes of travel within materials.
  • Calculations about beam characteristics of various transducers.
  • Ultrasonic energy reflection at material interfaces.
  • Equipment components, types, and display methods for ultrasonic information.
  • Factors influencing ultrasonic resolution and sensitivity.
  • Calibration and performance checks for ultrasonic test equipment.
  • Immersion scanning techniques and setup procedures.
  • Sizing of discontinuities using established methods.
  • Preparation of inspection techniques and report writing, with a focus on precise specification interpretation.

Assessment:

  • Throughout the course, students undergo continuous assessment, including homework assignments, progress tests, and both theoretical and practical end-of-course examinations.

Certification Options:

Upon successful course completion, students have the opportunity to take approval examinations in Ultrasonic Inspection at Level I, II, or Level III. These examinations align with industry standards such as SNT-TC-1A, NAS 410, or BS EN 4179, following their respective company's written practice.

Level III Services:

The International School of Aerospace NDT goes beyond education and serves as an outside agency, providing Level III services as defined in the industry documents mentioned above. We offer expert inspection services for aerospace applications.
