Time of Flight Diffraction (TOFD), Level - III

Course Objective:

Our TOFD Level III course aims to provide comprehensive classroom training, examination, and certification in compliance with ISO 9712 requirements. Upon successful completion, participants will be awarded a Level III qualification, enabling them to guide TOFD personnel at all levels, authorize validation, establish procedures, interpret codes and standards, and execute ultrasonic examinations on relevant test jobs. Level III certificate holders will generate accurate test reports adhering to the applicable NDT written procedure.

• Basic Principles of Time of Flight Diffraction (TOFD) - History, Advantages, Limitations, and Applications.
• TOFD Probe Operation and Factors Affecting Probe Selection - Couplant and Basic Hardware.
• Sampling, Digitization, Averaging, and Filtering Techniques.
• TOFD Instrument Operation, Software Settings, and Standardization.
• Beam Spread Calculations, Pulse Width, Curved Surface, and Complex Geometry Considerations.
• Testing Techniques, Scan Plan, and System Calibration.
• Sensitivity Settings, Sensitivity Check, and Optimization of Scanning Parameters.
• Data Collection, Analysis, and Indication Sizing.
• Handling Errors and Utilizing Analysis Software Tools for Linearization and Lateral Wave Removal.
• Evaluation of Indications Against Acceptance Criteria and Reporting.
• Interpreting Codes, Standards, Specifications, and Operating Procedures.
• Procedure Writing and Basic Knowledge of Specialized Applications.

Course Duration:

PCN: Training - 4 days (40 hours), Exam - 1 day (5 hours).

Who Should Attend:

This course is designed for inspectors, supervisors, engineers, and personnel working in industries such as oil refineries, petrochemical plants, ship construction, and other fields where Time of Flight Diffraction is critical for non-destructive testing processes.

Pre-requirements:

Participants must possess a valid vision certificate and a TOFD Level II certification, along with a minimum of 18 months of experience in TOFD.

Certification:

Upon successful completion, participants will receive a PCN Training certificate and a Level III certificate, both valid for 5 years, issued by BINDT.
