Time of Flight Diffraction (TOFD), Level - II

Course Objective:

Our comprehensive TOFD Level II course aims to provide participants with rigorous classroom training and examination, leading to a Level II qualification in Time-of-Flight Diffraction (TOFD). This certification complies with the requirements of ASNT SNT-TC-1A based employer's written practice or the requirements of ISO 9712, as chosen by the candidate. Upon successful completion, a valid Level II certificate holder will be formally eligible to conduct TOFD ultrasonic examinations on relevant test jobs, adhere to the applicable NDT written procedure, and generate precise test reports.

Course Content:

• Basic Principles of Time-of-Flight Diffraction (TOFD), History, Advantages, Limitations, and Applications.
• TOFD Probe Operation and Factors Affecting the Choice of Probes, Couplant.
• TOFD Instrument Operation, Software Settings, and Standardization.
• Testing Techniques, Scan Plan, System Calibration, and Sensitivity Setting.
• Sensitivity Check, Optimization of Scanning Parameters, and Data Collection.
• Data Analysis to Identify Relevant Indications and Sizing.
• Evaluation Against Acceptance Criteria and Reporting.
• Understanding Codes, Standards, Specifications, and Operating Procedures.

Course Duration:

• ASNT: Training: 8 days (80 hours)
• ASNT: Exam: 1 day (9 hours)
• PCN: Training: 8 days (80 hours - Direct Level II)
• PCN: Exam: 1 day (9 hours)

Who Should Attend:

This course is designed for technicians, inspectors, supervisors, and personnel working in industries such as oil refineries, petrochemical plants, ship construction, and other fields where Time-of-Flight Diffraction (TOFD) ultrasonic examination is integral to quality assessment.

Pre-requirements:

• ASNT: Participants must possess a valid vision certificate, a valid UT Level II certification, and have a minimum of 320 hours of experience in TOFD.
• PCN: Participants must possess a valid vision certificate, a valid UT Level II certification, and a minimum of 12 months of experience in TOFD.

Certification:

Upon successful completion, participants will receive an ASNT Training certificate and a Level II certificate, both valid for 5 years. For PCN qualification, participants will receive a Training certificate and a Level II certificate issued by BINDT with a 5-year validity.

To facilitate effective learning, we provide comprehensive course notes, state-of-the-art instruments, probes, scanners, calibration blocks, and training specimens for hands-on practical exercises.
