Course Description :

This course is designed for engineers and technicians in any maintenance or reliability role, as well as craft personnel. It is suitable for all engineering disciplines.

What will I learn?

During this course, you will receive training in the following areas:

• Correct operation of infrared imaging systems, including adjusting the image, storing and retrieving data, providing proper care, and verifying instrument calibration.
  
• Understanding of the basics of infrared theory, including characterising the object and background.
• Understanding of basic heat transfer principles and working within the limitations of the technology to follow basic inspection procedures.
• Understanding of qualitative thermography to identify various patterns, anomalies, and make simple temperature measurements.
• Familiarisation with the conditions required to carry out various inspections, including mechanical, electrical components, energy systems, and any associated limitations.
• Understanding of basic safety concerns that must be addressed to conduct safe thermographic inspections.
• Understanding of the factors that must be addressed when prioritising potential problems for repair.
• Knowledge of how to maintain a database and complete a simple test report (BS ISO 18434-1:2008) using the analysis and report generation software developed for their IR system.
• Application of the requirements of relevant codes and standards.
• This course is in accordance with the requirements of BS EN ISO 9712.

What will I leave with?

By the end of the course, you should be able to:

• Operate an infrared camera correctly.
  
• Characterise the object and background for accurate temperature measurement.
• Identify patterns, shapes, and anomalies in identifying problems.
• Develop a route plan to collect data.
• Develop an infrared inspection report to ISO standard.
