Responsibilities of Certified Level III:

Individuals certified as Ultrasonic Phased Array Level III have demonstrated competence not only in performing ultrasonic phased array testing but also in directing and supervising other operators. Level III personnel possess the following capabilities:

• The ability to evaluate and interpret results according to existing standards, codes, and specifications
• Sufficient practical knowledge of materials, fabrication, processes, and product technology to select appropriate Ultrasonic Phased Array methods, establish techniques, and assist in defining acceptance criteria when none are otherwise available
• A general familiarity with other NDT methods
• Within the scope of their certification, Ultrasonic Phased Array Level III personnel may be authorized to:
• Assume full responsibility for a test facility or examination center, including its staff
• Establish, review, and validate Ultrasonic Testing instructions and procedures for accuracy and technical correctness
• Interpret codes, standards, specifications, and procedures
• Designate specific Ultrasonic Phased Array test methods, techniques, and procedures to be used
• Perform all tasks at all levels within the scope and limitations of their certification
• Provide guidance to Ultrasonic Phased Array personnel at all levels
• Level III certified personnel may also be authorized to conduct and supervise PCN qualification examinations on behalf of the British Institute of NDT (BINDT).
• It is strongly recommended by BINDT that Level III personnel performing routine NDT duties in a specific product or industry sector hold and maintain Level II certification in the applicable method(s) and sector(s).

Training & Exam Duration:

• The training duration for PCN Level III PAUT is 80 hours, which may vary based on the individual's prior experience. Full PCN certification is achieved upon completion of the required training hours, passing the examination, and acquiring sufficient practical experience. Please contact us for further details.

Experience Requirement:

• For PAUT Level III certification, candidates must meet the experience requirements specified by PCN/GEN for Ultrasonic Testing (UT), including a minimum of 6 months of verifiable experience using UT phased array systems. Please contact us to confirm the specific requirements.
• Note: Work experience is based on a nominal 40-hour workweek or the legal workweek duration.
