This comprehensive eLearning and in-classroom training course is designed for NDT personnel, inspectors, and technicians responsible for weld inspection, inspection of castings and forgings during fabrication, or in-service inspection.
Our Magnetic Testing blended learning package offers a mix of online modules and in-class practical training, followed by certification to EN ISO 9712. You can study the online modules at your own pace, whenever and wherever it is most convenient for you.
The online learning modules are structured to separate theoretical concepts from practical applications, with questionnaires focused on the theoretical principles and specific applications related to different product and industrial sectors.
Once you have completed the online modules (including all assessments), you will attend a two-day practical classroom training at one of TWI's training facilities, followed by the certification exam.
Please note that the online modules require sufficient study time. You must plan your study time and complete all online modules (including assessments) at least 15 calendar days before joining the classroom training.
The eLearning training comprises two main modules, each covering important aspects of magnetic testing. The Product Technology module describes the types of discontinuities that can occur in metallic products, basic steel metallurgy, steel making, casting, wrought products, and welding. The Magnetic Testing Theory module covers the basic principles of magnetism, magnetization methods, detecting media and equipment, MT techniques, and assessing magnetizing force and amperage.
Each module includes downloadable course notes, theory explanations, self-assessment questionnaires, coursework sections, and a personal tutor assigned to each certification candidate. Upon completion of the coursework section, you will receive your results, indicating whether you are ready for the classroom element of the course or require further study time.
Upon completion of the training, you will be able to explain the basic principles of magnetic particle inspection methods, carry out magnetic particle inspection, write clear and concise inspection instructions and test reports, and meet syllabus requirements for CSWIP and PCN.
Join us today and gain the knowledge and practical skills needed to excel in magnetic testing!
