Position Summary:
The NDT Technician is responsible for conducting Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) inspections on structures, pipelines, components, and materials using a variety of inspection methods, including radiographic, ultrasonic, magnetic particle, liquid penetrant, leak testing, and visual inspection techniques. The role ensures inspections are performed in accordance with applicable codes, standards, specifications, and company procedures while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and accuracy. The technician is also responsible for equipment operation, documentation, and supporting field operations.
Responsibilities:
- Perform Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) inspections on structures, pipelines, components, and materials in accordance with applicable codes, standards, specifications, and procedures.
- Utilize appropriate inspection methods, including gamma radiography, X-ray radiography, ultrasonic testing, magnetic particle testing, liquid penetrant testing, leak testing, and visual inspections.
- Select, prepare, load, calibrate, and operate NDT equipment used during inspection activities.
- Identify material defects using the appropriate testing techniques.
- Complete work orders, inspection documentation, and reports accurately and within established timelines.
- Operate company vehicles while maintaining a safe driving record.
- Provide guidance and instruction to assigned assistants while ensuring the safety of the inspection team.
- Perform general cleaning and minor maintenance on company vehicles and inspection equipment.
- Routinely inspect equipment and maintain shop areas in a clean, organized, and functional condition.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Valid driver's license.
- Insurable through the PROtect, LLC insurance carrier.
- Certification in one or more of the following NDT methods:
- Radiographic Testing (RT)
- Ultrasonic Testing (UT)
- Magnetic Particle Testing (MT)
- Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT)
- Phased Array Ultrasonic Testing (PAUT) experience is considered an advantage.
- TWIC card preferred.
Requirements:
- Demonstrated NDT skill, knowledge, or relevant experience.
- Intermediate mechanical knowledge.
- Expertise in multiple NDT methods and commitment to continuous learning.
- Strong understanding of safety regulations, procedures, and best practices.
- Ability to work long hours, including up to 16-hour shifts, respond to short-notice call-outs, and travel for extended assignments.
- Ability to frequently lift and carry objects weighing up to 75 pounds and occasionally assist with lifting up to 150 pounds.
- Ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and in extreme environmental conditions.
- Must meet weight restrictions required for the safe use of safety harnesses.
- Professional customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and provide instruction to assistants.
