Level I Technician

Position Summary:

Jan X-Ray Services, Inc. (JANX) is seeking a Level I NDT Technician to support Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) and inspection activities under the guidance of Level II Technicians. The role involves assisting with inspection tasks, preparing equipment and documentation, maintaining work areas, and ensuring compliance with company procedures, client requirements, and safety standards. This union position offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience across a variety of inspection environments while contributing to the safety and reliability of critical infrastructure and industrial assets.

Responsibilities:

• Assist Level II Technicians with daily inspection activities and assigned work.
• Prepare, set up, and complete required documentation in accordance with client and company requirements under direct supervision.
• Establish work area boundaries and maintain surveillance to prevent unauthorized access when required.
• Replenish and organize inspection supplies needed for assigned NDT methods.
• Perform basic NDT inspections within the scope of Level I certification under the guidance of a Level II Technician.
• Maintain cleanliness of work areas, equipment, and company vehicles.
• Observe testing procedures and product compliance to develop knowledge of company and industry specifications.
• Learn procedures required to perform NDT work and achieve certification in additional inspection methods.
• Observe and learn proper documentation processes for NDT inspections.
• Follow and enforce company safe work practices, procedures, and policies at all times.
• Demonstrate professionalism, effective communication, and a positive customer service attitude.
• Use required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and follow all company safety practices.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 3 months of experience in the NDT industry.
• State Radiographer Card required.
• Knowledge of NDT equipment and inspection processes based on Level I certification.
• Basic understanding of inspection technology.
• Knowledge of radiation safety practices and field operational requirements.
• Ability to read and interpret technical documents and procedures is preferred.
• Knowledge of arithmetic and algebra is preferred.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and customer service skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively while maintaining professionalism, integrity, and attention to detail.

Requirements:

• Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
• Employment eligibility verification is required at the time of hire.
• Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
• Must meet company requirements to operate a company vehicle and be eligible for coverage under the company insurance program.
