From a chance encounter with Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) to becoming a trailblazer in the aerospace industry, Annabel Sabit’s journey is a testament to resilience, determination, and the pursuit of excellence. As the Production Area Manager and NDT Level 3 at a leading Aerospace Company in the Philippines, Annabel's story highlights her rise from an accidental entry into NDT to a recognized leader and advocate for women in the field.

The Unexpected Path

Annabel's foray into NDT began by accident when it was the only available course at the Technological University of the Philippines-Taguig Campus. Despite her initial lack of interest, she embraced the field, earning a degree in Nondestructive Engineering Technology and later, a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. Her career in NDT started as an ultrasonic testing inspector, and she steadily advanced to become an NDT Supervisor, and eventually, the Production Area Manager.

Rising to the Challenge

Annabel's journey was not without its hurdles. Initially overlooked for NDT Level 3 certification, she took it upon herself to study and pass the ASNT Level 3 exams independently. Presenting her certification to her employer marked a milestone as she became the first ASNT-certified employee in her facility. This achievement earned her the prestigious Advancement of Women in NDT award from ASNT, highlighting her commitment and capability.

Leading with Integrity

Annabel's leadership in NDT extends beyond her technical expertise. She supports internal and external customer issues, manages numerous audits, and mentors aspiring NDT professionals. Her leadership style, rooted in integrity, communication, and goal-setting, has been instrumental in her success and recognition as one of the "Faces of NDT" by the American Society of Non-Destructive Testing (ASNT).

Advocating for Women in NDT
