Virtual Section Meeting: Passing the Torch to the Next Generation of MT-PT Inspectors
This presentation will suggest how current MT and PT Level IIIs can mentor the next generation of inspectors to take their positions within the industry.
The Level III population of inspectors is greying and looking forward to retirement. There is a current shortage of qualified Level IIIs in all NDT methods. With more Level IIIs approaching retirement, that shortage will be exacerbated. This presentation will suggest how current MT and PT Level IIIs can mentor the next generation of inspectors to take their positions within the industry. The paper will highlight several aspects of the approaching crisis and suggest practical approaches to mentoring the next generation of Level IIIs.
