Advanced Ultrasonic Techniques for HTHA Detection and Assessment

Join us for a 30 minute webinar presented by Guy Maes, Sales Engineer Director UT for Zetec. The webinar will demonstrate how advanced ultrasonic techniques, implemented on the TOPAZ64 portable phased array UT system, are deployed for HTHA inspections.

(Important: This is an on-demand webinar that plays immediately. But don't worry! You can also download the webinar recording from a link provided in the confirmation email sent shortly after your registration.)

In the Oil and Gas industry, High Temperature Hydrogen Attack (HTHA) can occur in steels operating at high temperature, usually above 205°C (400°F). Early stages of HTHA are very difficult to detect because of the small size of the methane voids. The degradation can build up over time, ultimately resulting in unexpected plant downtime, reduction in productivity, employee safety hazards and even catastrophic damage to critical assets.

Operators that have been specifically trained using these techniques will gain a significant inspection advantage. The session will include the following topics:

• Introduction on HTHA, the specific inspection challenges related to this damage mechanism, and the recommended inspection strategy

• Principles and application of various advanced ultrasonic techniques

• Discussion of UT examination results on samples with confirmed HTHA damage

• Considerations on probe design optimization

This webinar will provide new insights and clarification about the benefits of these advanced ultrasonic techniques.
