Swiss aerial robotics firm Voliro has raised $23 million in a Series A funding round to accelerate the deployment of its autonomous drones, purpose-built for contact-based industrial inspections. The round includes fresh capital from noa VC and a debt facility from UBS, following an earlier lead investment by Cherry Ventures.

Voliro’s patented drone technology features tiltable rotors, allowing its systems to physically interact with and inspect complex structures, such as flare stacks, wind turbines, storage tanks, and other vertical infrastructure assets.

With industrial corrosion costing the global economy $2.5 trillion annually, and nearly 30% of major industrial accidents in Europe attributed to ageing infrastructure, Voliro’s platform offers a scalable solution that enhances safety, addresses labor shortages, and supports climate adaptation strategies.

“Voliro’s technology directly addresses a trifecta of global needs: safety, sustainability, and workforce transformation,” said Florian Gutzwiller, CEO of Voliro.

The company’s drones represent a significant shift in industrial inspection practices, enabling non-destructive testing (NDT) in previously hazardous or inaccessible environments. Traditional inspection methods require human technicians to perform complex maneuvers at height or in confined spaces—often with limited data quality and high risk. Voliro’s autonomous system brings precision, repeatability, and digital integration to the forefront.

“This is a breakthrough platform redefining how critical infrastructure is maintained,” added Gregory Dewerpe, Managing Partner at noa VC.

The new capital will be used to scale operations, expand the engineering team, and accelerate global customer deployments, particularly in the energy, utilities, and infrastructure sectors. Voliro is also investing in further R&D to enhance the sensing, autonomy, and analytics capabilities of its aerial robots.

With industrial safety and maintenance undergoing a digital transformation, Voliro is positioned to play a central role in the evolution of autonomous NDT solutions.
