TCR Engineering Services and its Vadodara-based subsidiary, TCR Advanced Engineering, have secured Nadcap accreditation for materials testing, marking a significant development for India’s aerospace manufacturing and testing ecosystem.

The accreditation, administered by the US-based Performance Review Institute (PRI), places TCR Advanced Engineering’s Vadodara facility on the Nadcap Qualified Manufacturers List (QML) for Materials Testing Laboratories.

Nadcap is a globally recognised accreditation programme for critical processes and product-related services in the aerospace and defence industries. The programme is used by leading aerospace companies as a supplier-quality benchmark and is intended to strengthen process controls while reducing the need for multiple customer audits.

Nadcap accreditation covers materials testing capabilities

The accreditation covers four audit-criteria areas under AC7101, including mechanical testing and metallography and microindentation hardness.

Materials testing plays an important role in aerospace manufacturing, where components require verification of material properties, metallurgical characteristics, mechanical performance and heat-treatment results before being used in critical programmes.

The Nadcap accreditation provides access to materials testing that has been independently audited against aerospace-specific requirements. For Indian manufacturers, particularly small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), the availability of an accredited domestic testing facility can support efforts to meet the quality and compliance requirements of global aerospace customers.

Potential to reduce overseas testing dependence

The accreditation could also reduce the dependence of Indian aerospace manufacturers on overseas testing laboratories. TCR Advanced Engineering said the availability of an accredited laboratory in India can reduce reliance on facilities in countries including the UK, Singapore and the US.

Domestic access to accredited materials testing can potentially shorten qualification cycles while reducing international shipping, retesting and compliance-related costs.

For aerospace suppliers, such testing is particularly relevant because material verification and documentation form an important part of demonstrating compliance with customer and programme requirements.

Supporting India’s aerospace supply chain

The development comes as India’s aerospace manufacturing ecosystem expands through domestic programmes and increasing participation in international supply chains.

For smaller manufacturers seeking to supply global aerospace and defence programmes, Nadcap accreditation can serve as an important credential when demonstrating adherence to recognised industry requirements.

With its Vadodara facility now listed on the Nadcap Qualified Manufacturers List for Materials Testing Laboratories, TCR Advanced Engineering adds accredited materials testing capacity within India’s aerospace supply chain, supporting manufacturers that require independently audited testing capabilities for critical components and materials.
