Spirox Launches SP7000G High-Speed TGV Crack Inspection System

Spirox has unveiled its SP7000G High-Speed TGV Crack Inspection System as the company expands its non-destructive inspection solutions for high-volume Glass Core and through-glass via (TGV) manufacturing.

The launch was announced during Spirox’s 2026 Advanced Packaging Technology Forum, where industry experts from Corning and DNP discussed Glass Core, TGV, reliability and inspection technologies for next-generation AI and high-performance computing (HPC) applications.

As advanced packaging development accelerates, Glass Core and TGV technologies are emerging as key areas for next-generation packaging. Within this environment, non-destructive inspection is being positioned to identify defects in glass structures without damaging the substrates.

SP7000G targets high-volume TGV inspection

The SP7000G is designed for high-volume glass substrate inspection and can complete a full-panel scan of a 510 mm × 515 mm glass substrate in less than 20 minutes.

The system is designed to detect internal microcracks following metallization and ABF build-up processes. Its inspection capabilities are intended to support inspection efficiency, process quality and defect-distribution monitoring, as well as yield optimization.

The development expands Spirox’s inspection portfolio for TGV applications, with the company positioning the SP7000G alongside its SP8000G system.

Laser tomography enables non-destructive glass inspection

Odessa Petzold of Corning highlighted Spirox’s laser tomography scanning technology and its application to glass-material inspection.

"We are pleased to participate in Spirox's forum and exchange insights with industry partners on the latest developments and challenges in Glass Core. Spirox's laser tomography scanning technology represents an innovative approach to non-destructive inspection of glass materials. Its unique optical inspection capabilities can detect defects within glass structures without damaging the material, making it a valuable tool for advanced packaging processes such as TGV, and helping improve processes and accelerate the transition to high-volume manufacturing."

The technology provides optical inspection of glass structures, with the ability to detect defects without damaging the material.

Reliability and failure analysis remain key considerations

Satoru Kuramochi of DNP emphasized the role of reliability and failure analysis as Glass Core technologies move toward high-volume manufacturing.

"As AI servers continue to drive demand for high-performance, high-density packaging, reliability and failure analysis will become increasingly important as Glass Core technologies move toward high-volume manufacturing. We are pleased to participate in this forum and share our work on improving the reliability of Glass Core substrates for large AI data server packages. Non-destructive inspection technologies for TGV and glass substrates are expected to play an important role in identifying defects and understanding issues that may occur at different stages of the manufacturing process. Continued advances in inspection and analysis technologies will contribute to improving Glass Core reliability and developing a more comprehensive technology ecosystem."

From an NDT perspective, the inspection of TGV and glass substrates focuses on identifying internal defects while preserving the integrity of the inspected material. The SP7000G is designed around this non-destructive inspection requirement for high-volume manufacturing.

SP7000G complements SP8000G

Paul Yang of Spirox Corporation said the move toward high-volume TGV manufacturing is increasing the importance of inspection efficiency and quality control.

The SP7000G therefore extends Spirox’s inspection offering across R&D, quality control and high-volume manufacturing, with a focus on high-speed and non-destructive TGV inspection and analysis.
