Sonomatic, a leader in advanced inspection solutions, has announced the acquisition of RotoTech, an innovative company specializing in robotic Inspection, Repair, and Maintenance (IRM) for risers, conductors, and caissons in the splash zone. This strategic acquisition enhances Sonomatic's capabilities, offering safer, more cost-effective, and environmentally sustainable alternatives to traditional offshore methods.

Founded in 2019 by Simon Hartog in partnership with AI and Robotics Ventures, a subsidiary of PTTEP, RotoTech has quickly established itself as a pioneer in addressing splash zone challenges. Their flagship technology, the Roto Climber® Mk 1, is the lightest robotic solution available for IRM, requiring minimal platform power and deck space. This innovative system allows for vessel-free operations, making it ideal for offshore operators seeking efficient and economical solutions. The Roto Climber® Mk 1 is designed to detect defects in risers, conductors, or caissons, enabling operators to schedule future inspections or deploy the Roto Climber® Mk 2 for advanced cleaning, inspection, and strengthening in cases of severe corrosion.

RotoTech's cutting-edge approach has gained recognition from major industry players, including PTTEP and Brunei Shell Petroleum. The company has successfully developed and deployed the Roto Climber® Mk 1 and Mk 2 systems and introduced a new UV-cured underwater pipe-strengthening tape applied via robotics.
