Ontic has officially opened a new dedicated Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) facility in Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire, as part of a $30 million global investment in its aftermarket support capabilities. The 72,000 sq ft facility brings around 200 specialists together to support aerospace customers with repair and maintenance services for components used across established civil and military fleets.
The new site strengthens Ontic's MRO capacity in the UK and forms part of a wider investment programme that also includes the company's new facility in Miramar, Florida. The investment is intended to increase repair capacity, improve customer support and help extend the operational life of aircraft and their components.
Tewkesbury Facility Includes NDT Capability
The purpose-built facility brings engineers, technicians, customer service teams, supply chain specialists and logistics personnel together at a single location. Its infrastructure includes dedicated pneumatic and hydraulic systems, an avionics workshop with an ISO 7 clean room, a machine shop, a dark room and non-destructive testing (NDT) capability.
The facility also includes additional space for future expansion as Ontic continues to transfer product lines to Tewkesbury and works towards full operational capability.
For aerospace component maintenance, the inclusion of NDT capability provides inspection support alongside the facility's repair, engineering and manufacturing resources.
Facility Receives Aerospace Certifications and Approvals
The Tewkesbury facility achieved BSI AS9100 certification in December 2025 and has received Part 145 maintenance approvals from the UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) and the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA). FAA approval has also been awarded under CAA oversight.
Ontic is continuing to work towards approval from the Chinese Civil Aviation Administration (CAAC), which the company expects to secure in early October 2026.
As product lines are transferred to the new site, the facility is building towards full operational capability while bringing Ontic's UK aftermarket expertise together under one roof.
OEM Expertise Supports Component Repair
Ontic is a licensed original equipment manufacturer (OEM) for thousands of aerospace product lines. This gives the company access to proprietary technical data, tooling and test equipment required to repair components to original manufacturer standards.
The company said this capability enables warranty-backed repairs while drawing on its original design and manufacturing expertise. The approach is intended to support aircraft operators throughout the operational lives of established fleets, including when original aircraft manufacturers have moved to newer products.
The facility will also support repair enhancements, material upgrades and obsolescence management aimed at improving component reliability. These services are intended to help operators address recurring technical issues, improve aircraft dispatch reliability and manage maintenance costs.
Ontic Expands Global MRO Support
The Tewkesbury facility is part of Ontic's broader investment in aftermarket and MRO capabilities on both sides of the Atlantic. The company also operates a new facility in Miramar, Florida, as it expands its ability to provide repair and maintenance support to customers internationally.
Brian Sartain, Chief Operating Officer of Ontic, said:
“The opening of our Tewkesbury MRO facility marks a step-change in how we support our customers. By consolidating all our UK aftermarket expertise in one dedicated site, we are investing in the people, capability and infrastructure to consistently deliver a faster, more responsive and more transparent service.
“Alongside our new Miramar facility in the US, this is a significant milestone in our commitment to keeping established fleets flying safely for decades to come.”
Ontic also provides a dedicated 24-hour Aircraft on Ground (AOG) service to support customers when aircraft are unexpectedly grounded, providing access to technical expertise, spare parts and repair solutions.
Dave Mayne, MRO Director for Europe at Ontic, said:
“I am really pleased with the progress we have made in bringing Tewkesbury to life. Our teams have worked hard to launch the new site quickly so we can begin delivering the benefits of a dedicated MRO facility to our customers. Every decision – from product to people to process – has been guided by that goal.”
New Facility Strengthens Aerospace Inspection Infrastructure
The opening of the Tewkesbury facility represents an additional investment in the UK's aerospace aftermarket sector. By combining specialist engineering, component repair, maintenance infrastructure and NDT capability at one location, Ontic aims to provide operators with responsive support for established aircraft fleets.
The facility's NDT capability forms part of this broader aftermarket infrastructure, supporting the inspection and maintenance of aerospace components alongside Ontic's repair and engineering activities.
