MISTRAS Group is accelerating its artificial intelligence strategy, seeking to apply AI across its inspection, asset integrity, engineering and digital operations while drawing on decades of industry expertise and integrity data.

MISTRAS Group, Inc. (NYSE: MG), a provider of technology-enabled industrial asset integrity and laboratory testing solutions, said the initiative is intended to transform its technical expertise, data and digital capabilities into more actionable intelligence for customers.

The company is exploring practical AI applications across its portfolio of advanced inspection technologies, condition monitoring, engineering and integrity management software. The focus includes enhancing inspection intelligence, analysing complex asset data and supporting engineering and operational workflows to improve the speed and precision of insights used in asset integrity and maintenance decisions.

MISTRAS appoints Executive Director of Artificial Intelligence

As part of the strategy, MISTRAS has appointed Samer F. Sarrouh as Executive Director of Artificial Intelligence.

Sarrouh will lead the company’s enterprise AI strategy and work to translate individual AI opportunities into coordinated and scalable business capabilities. His responsibilities include identifying and prioritising opportunities across MISTRAS while establishing frameworks for AI adoption, governance and performance measurement.

The move places AI within MISTRAS’ broader technology-enabled approach to inspection and asset integrity, with the company seeking to combine its existing data and technical knowledge with emerging AI capabilities.

“Our clients operate complex, critical assets where the quality and timeliness of information can have a significant impact on the decisions they make,” said Hani Hammad, Chief Operating Officer of MISTRAS Group. “MISTRAS has deep technical expertise and an expanding portfolio of technology-enabled solutions. AI gives us another powerful tool to bring those capabilities together, unlocking greater value for our clients and helping them make smarter, more informed decisions.”

Focus on AI, inspection data and asset integrity

MISTRAS said its AI strategy will focus on practical applications rather than isolated technology initiatives. The company is looking to use AI to improve the way complex inspection and asset data is analysed and to support workflows associated with engineering, operations and maintenance.

For the NDT and inspection sector, the strategy builds on MISTRAS’ existing portfolio of inspection technologies, condition monitoring and integrity management solutions, alongside the company’s accumulated integrity data.

“AI strengthens how we operate, how we serve our customers, and how we use the decades of knowledge and integrity data that already exist across MISTRAS,” said Jim Redmon, MISTRAS Group’s Senior Vice President of Operations – Data Solutions. “Our goal is to build a responsible and repeatable capability that produces measurable value for MISTRAS and our customers. That means solving the right business problems, establishing strong data and governance foundations, and scaling what proves effective.”

Sarrouh brings AI and industrial technology experience

Sarrouh brings experience across artificial intelligence, software engineering, cloud computing, enterprise data platforms and industrial systems.

Before joining MISTRAS, he led enterprise data and AI initiatives at Kroger, covering production AI capabilities, retail intelligence, data-platform modernisation and operating models for responsible AI adoption. He previously held leadership positions at Amazon Web Services and RoviSys Automation & Information Solutions.

He holds a Master of Science in Software Engineering and a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering from Cleveland State University.

“The greatest opportunity for AI at MISTRAS is to strengthen the expertise our customers already rely on,” Sarrouh said. “By combining our people, data, and domain knowledge with new AI capabilities, we can continue improving how we solve complex asset integrity challenges and support better decisions.”

The company’s AI strategy therefore links its existing inspection and asset integrity capabilities with data and artificial intelligence, with the stated objective of developing scalable capabilities that can support customers managing complex industrial assets.
