Laser Technology Inc. (LTI), a specialist in shearography nondestructive testing (NDT), is highlighting its advanced equipment and production systems designed for the rigorous inspection of composite materials across critical industries including aerospace, marine, wind power, and automotive. Shearography stands out as a full-field inspection technique, capable of generating a comprehensive image of subsurface flaws, typically covering an area of 2 square feet in a single capture.

LTI’s sophisticated suite of analysis tools allows for precise sizing of detected anomalies. Among its offerings, the LTI-2100 system is particularly well-suited for identifying critical defects such as disbonds, porosity, delaminations, and impact damage within carbon fiber laminates, as well as honeycomb and foam-cored structures. Notably, the LTI-2100 is currently deployed for the NDT of all composite components on the NASA Lunar Gateway Space Station PPE, underscoring its reliability and precision in demanding applications.

Further enhancing its portfolio, Laser Technology Inc. developed the LTI 5200 portable vacuum stress shearography system. Initially conceived for military aircraft inspection, this handheld unit has also proven highly effective for testing foam-cored boat hulls and superstructures for the presence of voids and disbonds. With its capability to cover up to 150 square feet per hour, the LTI 5200 offers a rapid and efficient solution for large-area composite inspections.

Laser Technology Inc.'s commitment to advancing shearography NDT provides industries with robust, high-performance tools essential for ensuring the integrity and safety of composite structures.
