Brunei’s industrial sector reached a milestone as the nation hosted its first dedicated Advanced Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) Exhibition, Seminar, and Panel Workshop from April 28 to 29 at the SPARK Centre, Sungai Liang Industrial Park.
Sponsored by Brunei Fertilizer Industries Sdn Bhd (BFI) and Brunei Rotary Engineering Sdn Bhd (BRE), and co-organized by the Non-Destructive Testing Society of Singapore (NDTSS), the event gathered key figures from Brunei’s industrial and inspection community to exchange knowledge on the latest NDT technologies and explore innovations improving operational excellence and asset management.
BFI Chief Executive Officer Dr Harri Kiiski and BRE Director Koh Chun Peng officiated the event, which also saw the attendance of High Commissioner of Singapore to Brunei Darussalam Laurence Bay Siow Hon, alongside representatives from the Safety, Health and Environmental National Authority (SHENA) and the National Standard Centre.
A highlight of the two-day seminar was the keynote address by Dr Sajeesh Kumar Babu, Chairman of the International Committee for Non-Destructive Testing (ICNDT) and President of NDTSS, who underscored the vital role advanced NDT plays in driving operational excellence and sustainable asset management, particularly across the process and fertilizer sectors.
The exhibition brought together seven leading NDT solution providers and featured technical presentations by five international speakers. A local expert panel also shared insights into cutting-edge corrosion detection methods, aimed at enhancing plant safety, reliability, and asset longevity.
This landmark event provided local inspection engineers, maintenance professionals, and plant operators a valuable platform to raise industry benchmarks and strengthen technical capabilities for the future.
