Saman Farhangdoust, assistant professor of Aerospace Engineering at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, has been awarded the New NDT Professional Recognition by the American Society for Nondestructive Testing (ASNT). The recognition highlights early-career professionals demonstrating exceptional achievement, innovation, and service within the field of nondestructive testing.

The award acknowledges contributions that extend beyond technical excellence to include active engagement and service to the NDT community. Farhangdoust is also the director of the Smart and Multifunctional Meta-Structures research group, focusing on the development of advanced meta-structures for structural health monitoring in aerospace applications.

Commenting on the recognition, Farhangdoust said: "Receiving the award is both a great honor and a meaningful milestone in my professional journey. This recognition is particularly significant to me because it extends beyond technical achievement to include innovation, service and active engagement within the nondestructive testing community. This award reflects the collective impact of my research at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. The award motivates me to continue pushing the boundaries of research while mentoring and inspiring the next generation of engineers and researchers."

Nondestructive testing (NDT) plays a critical role in evaluating structures, components, and systems without causing damage. It is widely applied across industries including aerospace, construction, manufacturing, and energy, using techniques such as radiographic, ultrasonic, and electromagnetic testing to ensure safety, reliability, and operational efficiency.
