Eastern Iowa Community Colleges (EICC) has announced a 40-hour hands-on Ultrasonic Nondestructive Testing (NDT) training course scheduled for June 9–13 at its Blong Technology Center, located at 8500 Hillandale Rd, Davenport.
The course, priced at $1,095, is designed to equip technicians, inspectors, and industry professionals with practical skills in ultrasonic NDT—a critical method used across industries to detect internal flaws in materials without causing damage. Sessions will run daily from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in Room 221 of the center.
Participants will receive in-depth instruction on ultrasonic wave behavior, transducer design, flaw detection techniques, signal interpretation, and the use of advanced ultrasonic testing equipment. Upon completion, attendees will earn a 40-hour certification, an important credential in fields such as aerospace, automotive, construction, energy, and manufacturing.
“We’re proud to bring this advanced training to the Quad Cities region,” said Ashlee Spannagel, EICC’s vice chancellor of workforce development. “Nondestructive testing is a key component of quality and safety in so many industries. This course gives employers a chance to strengthen their teams with in-demand skills.”
The program will be led by David Eisenmann, a seasoned expert in materials science and nondestructive evaluation. Eisenmann holds a PhD in materials science and engineering, with a strong background in applied research, including advanced techniques such as phased array ultrasonic testing (PAUT) and eddy current testing.
This initiative by EICC reflects a growing regional demand for certified NDT professionals as industries increasingly prioritize structural integrity and product reliability through non-invasive evaluation methods.
For industry participants looking to upgrade their workforce or individuals seeking to expand technical competencies in a high-growth area, the course represents a timely opportunity in the Quad Cities’ evolving industrial landscape.
