Egis has been appointed to deliver technical assessment services for the powerhouse building at the Belawan New Container Terminal (BNCT), located along the Malacca Strait in Indonesia. The project is focused on strengthening infrastructure resilience and operational efficiency at a key maritime hub.
BNCT, a consortium involving DP World, Pelindo, and the Indonesia Investment Authority, plays a significant role in regional and international logistics, supporting cargo handling and trade connectivity. The powerhouse facility is a critical component in maintaining the terminal’s operational continuity and infrastructure stability.
As part of its scope, Egis will conduct a detailed evaluation of the building’s current condition and propose strategies to support sustainable operations. The assessment will include comprehensive soil investigations to analyse subsurface conditions affecting structural integrity, alongside the application of non-destructive testing (NDT) methods to assess materials without interrupting ongoing operations.
These NDT-driven evaluations will provide data to support technically sound improvement measures aligned with the operational requirements of the terminal. The approach ensures that inspection and assessment processes are carried out efficiently while maintaining continuous functionality of the facility.
The assignment further strengthens Egis’ involvement in port and infrastructure projects across Indonesia, highlighting its focus on delivering resilient and sustainable engineering solutions. The company’s multidisciplinary expertise supports adherence to international standards, particularly in inspection, testing, and evaluation practices essential for critical infrastructure.
